Standing Snow Angel
This piece arose from wondering what it might look like to measure the wingspan of everyone on earth. In a modest effort to this end, those attending the 2010 MFA Thesis Exhibition at the Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis were invited to stand with their backs to the wall and make several sweeping "snow angel" movements with their arms while holding a pencil in each hand. While an hazy boundary begins to emerge through the recording of these gestures, a greater awareness of ones own body also arises through the act of collective mark-making.
