This is the first of two works in which I lined the floor with drawing paper in an effort to record the activity that took place in my studio during my time in graduate school. Each piece corresponds to my first and second year, respectively. Through evidence such as shoe prints, scuff marks, dropped food, and spilled coffee, the movement and presence of people is made known. A sense of place also begins to emerge, as can be seen in the empty, non-marked areas as well as in the imprints of floorboards and former walls.
